Day 1

The birds sound different here. This statement is probably obvious to you, but you dont really realize it until you're here. When you wake up, you hear the same cluster of birds every morning. It was weird to wake up and hear different birds.

We had cereal for breakfast. In case you don't know how to eat cereal, there are directions:

We got up around 5:30. My dad went to work at 6. We didn't do much until lunch time. Since we only had cereal and eggs, we had to go buy food.

We wandered up and down Main Street for a bit. We really didn't have a clue of what was expensive or not. We were given $300 Hong Kong dollars which is about $45 American dollars. We ate beef at a sea food restaurant. 

Avery and I had this. Beef with seasonal vegetables. I didn't get a picture of Greyson's, but he got the same thing except with noodles.

At the restaurant. We drank our pop with straws. You always drink beverages with straws here  because you never know where the can was before it was delivered to you.

This is the name of the restaurant. The truth is that I really took this photo so you could see the cute little kite creatures hanging in the air.

We ate dinner around 8.

We had these chocolate burgers for dessert.

Avery cooked dinner for us. Here she is wilting the lettuce. 

The wilting lettuce. This particular kind of lettuce must be cooked before eating because it has chemicals on it from  when they grew it. We didn't like it.

Dinner. It was lemon butter chicken, lettuce, and pasta with herbs. Everything was good except for the lettuce.

I'm sorry about all the food pictures. I really love food and think its delicious, so I take a lot of pictures of it. The chicken was very good.

We were all able to fight the jet lag and went to bed at 9:30. Yay!

Arrival

Greyson, Avery, and I woke up at 4 a.m. on Sunday morning to catch our 7 a.m. flight to Chicago. After an hour of air travel we had a six hour lay over in Chicago. After much looking, we found an outlet in a deserted gate. We set up camp.

We shift slept.

 After some hours of much needed sleep, we headed to gate M11 and waited for our plane to arrive. Dont ask me what type of plane this is; I have no idea. 

Unfortunatly it didnt have two levels.

7771 miles.

15 hours.

We flew Cathay Pacific to Hong Kong.

Our snack to Hong Kong. Peanuts, apple juice, and a moist towelette.

Our seating arrangment. Greyson played video games for 12 hours straight.  His eyes were bloodshot.

We each had our own little tv. We could watch movies, watch tv shows, listen to music, and play games. 

Our first meal! It was Penne Pasta with Asiago Cheese sauce, dinner roll, salmon with potato salad, vanilla ice cream, and apple juice.

Once we discovered they had free ramen at any point during the flight, I knew that Greyson could live on a plane forever. He doesnt need anything else besides his computer and his ramen.

 This is what I had after 10 hours of flying. A pan-fried pork chop with maderia sauce, vegetable pearl cous cous, dinner roll, fruit, a raspberry mousse cake, and apple juice.

This is what Greyson and Avery ate. Sweet and sour prawns, steamed jasmine rice, pak choy,  dinner roll, fruit, raspberry mousse cake, and apple juice.

Our meal.

This is what the plane looked like. The seating went like this XXX XXX XXX (the X is a seat.) The plane ride had some turbulence. Especially over the Gobi Desert. That felt like a roller coaster.

After we got off the plane, went through immigration, and customs, we got on a train that took us to Hong Kong.

Then after the train, we walked to Pier 4 and got on a Ferrie to take to Lamma Island where we are staying. The boat ride was crazy bumpy. Water was splashing up on the windows and it felt like your stomach was in your throat. The locals werent bothered by it, so we werent concerned.

We left Sunday morning and got to the house Monday night. It still felt like Sunday. The whole time we were flying the Sun was always up. Greyson was that one guy on the plane who would open the window when the whole plane was dark and trying to sleep. The bright sun filled the cabin and made many people stare, but he didnt care.

It was 84 degrees at 9 p.m. the humidity was high too. On the plane I watched War Horse and The Proposal. I listened to Foo Fighters- Walk and Queens of...  (I think it was Queens of the Stone Age, but im not sure. I got a tip off that these are good bands.) The song by them was No One Knows.
